Haute couture in the wild west? Maybe, if Jimmy Choo has anything to say about it. I’m not sure what to make of this olive-toned leather bag, studded with gold and trimmed with thick black whipstitching. What really gives it cowgirl appeal is that hefty gold metal buckle, which is so large it almost seems like it’s crushing the bag’s center. Though it’s obviously high quality and constructed of the finest materials, it’s just not as fabulous as one would expect a Jimmy Choo creation to be. Available for $398 at designerexposure.com.

Va va va voom! This traffic-stopping red (or green, or black) Dolce & Gabbana Patent Leather Shoulder Bag is so shiny, it looks like it’s wet. A bag like this spurs all sorts of dirty thoughts…and I love it! Beyond the sexy patent leather, the bells and whistles are few: a few hardware details, patent straps attached by links, satin lining, and belt-and-buckle details on the sides. The new year brings new excitement to Coach fans as the brand launches its Coach Carly Bags. In line with Coach standards, the new bags are conservative and tasteful but updated with a twist of fun and exciting details. My favorite handbag from the line is the one with the Signature Coach print fabric accented with blue leather trim. It’s such a hip and modern slouchy bag which I think I can really use for a long time. As an added bonus, this handbag also has a strap with a dogleash clip for the dog lovers. It’s a little relaxed because it’s slouchy, but nevertheless, it’s still one classic and stylish handbag.

Though it’s pretty plain, I just love this quilted satchel from the Michael by Michael Kors line. It’s an ideal everyday bag that has a classic, distinguished look about it. I find quilted leather pretty impressive on its own - it doesn’t need much detail or embellishment to stand out. Talk about the gold standard. This glittery Jimmy Choo Troy Large Clutch is the ultimate in luxury. Well, this is different. I’m not sure many students out there could easily afford to splurge on anything Gucci - and this Gucci Black Signature GG Fabric Backpack is made for students (generally speaking). It’s a bit bizarre looking at first glance, with a sort of stiff, rigid appearance. It’s covered with GG logo fabric, which is attractive enough, and much to my amusement, it comes complete with a dust bag. Maybe Paris Hilton would carry this to school…if she were a student.
