Whoa, Fergie - easy on the bright yellow, green, and purple color combinations. Some of us have sensitive eyes here! PopSugar has posted more photos of Fergie’s new handbag line for Kipling, including this purple tote with black trim and the blue and green checked bag underneath. Thoughts? I guess Fergie’s target audience is a lot younger than I am, because the bold colors and materials are too young and funky for me - I’m suddenly reminded of The Joker from Batman. The bags are punchy and trendy, but not what I’d call chic.

Everywhere I look there’s a photo of some celebrity carrying a Gustto purse, and looking at this Large Cala Bag, I can see why the label is quickly becoming one of the new “it” handbag designers. In a word, this oversized black leather carryall is edgy. The gold logo disc hanging from the front adds a nice, exotic jolt of brightness (makes me think of ancient Greece), and the leather pleating and braided handles show impressive craftsmanship. We’ve seen a million black leather bags, but somehow this manages to stand out on its own.

Gwen Stefani’s secondary line inspired by the funky fashions of Japan’s Harajuku district now has bags. This small Juku Bag collection features black and white graphics of little fashionistas with a lot of attitude. The handbags are sporty, with a retro 80’s slant. Hate the word ‘retro’? Don’t worry, most of this label’s fans are probably not old enough to remember the trends of the 1980’s, so this is all fresh and new.

I’m never big on nylon, so I’m not exactly jumping for joy over this Prada Small Chevron Quilted Nylon Dome Bag. Available in black and a lovely prune, the purse’s quilted nylon and ornate handle come off as poshed-up sporty chic. Though I admire the gold hardware, metal feet, and the sophisticated dome shape, I can’t help wishing it came in leather as opposed to nylon.

To be 100% honest, I don’t usually feel much sympathy when celebs get robbed (especially when they only have to serve 82 measly minutes for the crimes they commit), but what happened to Kirsten Dunst hits very close to home. According to People.com, thieves broke into Dunst’s NYC hotel room and stole - gasp - her Marc Jacobs and Balenciaga handbags. How dare they? We hear they also swiped some other loot, but I’m sure Kirsten’s missing her purses the most. Let this be a warning to us all - lock your doors and sleep with your designer handbags if you have to!

I’m so not impressed by this newest offering from Prada. The Glace Zippers Plaque Boston is dull and unattractive, from its stubby little handles to its boxy shape. The glazed calf material is nice, but even a soft exterior can’t salvage this snoozer of a handbag. The contrasting gold and silver hardware doesn’t work at all, nor does the light-to-dark fade of the calf (available in mocha and black). I can think of much more interesting things to spend $2390 on, that’s for sure. Available at Saks.

Most people grumble as they make their way through airport security. In fact, I blame check-in regulations for the inexplicable popularity of Crocs - who wants to hold up the line taking off their knee-high designer boots? But Jennifer Garner seems to be a good sport, not just shedding her shoes but also proudly displaying her gorgeous black Chanel purse. I’m not sure why Jen brought the fancy quilted black leather handbag to an informal setting like the airport of all places, but I’m sure she’ll find a good use for it once she arrives at her final destination.
