“Gossip Girl” star Blake Lively is lucky enough to wear some jaw-droppingly fabulous designer duds on the set, and it looks like she likes to take some of her work home with her. The starlet chose a very au courant Chloe Saskia purse to jazz up an otherwise basic (okay, kinda drab and very short; guess those “Traveling Pants” must be with America Ferrera or something) beige dress. Dog-sitting isn’t the most glamorous chore in the world, but the Saskia, with its chic pastel patches of croc, adds a fashionable, just-off-the-runway panache. Serena would definitely approve.

As if there was a dearth of quirky, nonsensical handbags out there, we’re lucky to have Dolce and Gabbana filling the void for us. The pre-fall Miss Catch Lock Tote is a jumble of turquoise, moss and lime leathers. Thrown in is a patch of leopard-print calf hair and a hefty silver push-lock to finish it up. I actually don’t dislike this one at all. The color scheme is ridiculous, but it somehow doesn’t blind me either. The shape is adorable, like a little designer basket. Cute, but perhaps not (ok, definitely not) worth the $2550 price tag. Available to pre-order at Nordstrom.

Star light, star bright, the first star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, that this Donna Karan purse wasn’t such a fright. I’m amazed at how a designer/label famed for understanding what contemporary women want to wear managed to create this completely underwhelming and rather unsightly Evening Star Loop Pouch. The twisted black goatskin is undoubtedly meant to look edgy and avant garde, but all I see is a tied-up Hefty bag. Now I know this isn’t the most flattering pic of Ms. Hudson, but it was the one that most showed off her massive hobo bag that appears to be made of an exotic skin. Mischa looks great leaving a London club a few nights ago. She’s wearing the Chanel flap bag from the Punk collection from a few seasons ago. I was eyeing the timeless clutch version of this bag, but with it’s whopping 3k price tag I had to let it slip by. The purse was a seasonal offering from Chanel, but if you’re young, I think you can rock the bag for some time to come. The black distressed lambskin and gobs of hardware add an edge to a day look, and looks perfectly appropriate at night.
