A great “carry everywhere” bag, this Botkier Soft Pleated Tote does two things: Makes you look fabulous and holds everything with ease. For a tote bag, it’s considerably more interesting in design than the traditional style. A few strands of fringe and several neatly stitched pleats add dimension and eliminate the need for extra details. It’s a great example of a bag that’s just as attentive to function as it is to form. Inexplicable. That’s the best word I can use to describe this Marc Jacobs Amazon Shoulder Bag. It takes some getting used to, and even after staring at it for a while it appears a total mismatch with regard to color and design. The obvious eyesores are the blue snakeskin, bronze suede and zebra-print calf hair flap, a combination so lacking in congruence that even Marc Jacobs can’t really pull it off. This a fairly spacious shoulder bag, full of compartments galore to give it some functionality and common sense. I’m trying not to be a total party pooper, but the guitar strap-inspired shoulder strap…well, it doesn’t help matters. And the $2850 price tag? I’m outta here. Available to pre-order at eLuxury.

Well, there goes my breakfast. Whenever I think Heidi Montag and Spencer “I’m a” Pratt couldn’t raise the cheesiness stakes any higher, they prove me wrong with a wannabe Tawny Kitaen photoshoot. And what is that joining them on the top of their Camaro? Why, it’s a studded black Valentino Petale handbag. It’s not one of my favorite Valentinos, but combined with Heidi’s ruffled floral blouse it looks downright “mid-’90s country singer” here. Quick, someone hit the gas.

The Jimmy Choo Ruby Leather Hobo Bag is just as gorgeous as a simple handbag can get. The soft leather, stunning hardware, and comfy strap all add to the luxe factor of the handbag and make it one worth watching once sale season rolls around. The Selleria Pomodorino is new for spring and destined to be one of the go-to neutral carryalls of the moment. Thanks to its supple leather, minimal details and navy color (more interesting right now than gray or black), it earns itself a gold star for easy perfection. I know this bag was a huge a few years ago, and while some deem it a classic, I’m usually pretty bored when I see it hanging from a woman’s arm. Of course to each her own (folks might say the same of my Balenciaga bags), but now Marc Jacobs has hit us with the Stam again and this time, it’s coming at us in patent leather. Yep, you read that correctly. As if this bag isn’t already incredibly difficult to deal with for day-to-day carrying (the chain is heavy, as is the suede lining which comes with many versions of the Stam bag), they’ve decided to give it to us in a heavier leather. The wrinkles in the bag will not be flattering after a bit of time, and I have a feeling the color would rub off when in storage. Part of the beauty of the original Stam was a squishy, pliable leather in a semi-structured design. Since the patent material robs the handbag of this beauty, I’ll recommend everyone passing on this bag. And to the MJ accessories design team - enough! We love your work, we just don’t want to see the same version of it season after season after season after…

Edgy, eye-catching and just plain fun, this Botkier Morgan Satchel is all about the fringe. While I normally don’t look twice at fringe-laden purses, a style like this proves that it can really work well when used as a mere accent piece. Though it’s definitely noticeable, it doesn’t take over the entire piece.
