Oh, This Old Thing: The Beverley Sisters
| By: Lisa J. | ||
Beautiful, blonde, and bubbly, the Beverley Sisters were the trio of all trios in their heyday.
The Beverley Sisters were a thriving British female vocal group that was popular during the 1950′s and 1960′s, made up of of eldest sister Joy and twins Teddie and Babs. Their first big hit was a harmony version of the Christmas song “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” which reached number six on the charts and launched their careers. While most of their hits were released around Christmas, they eventually took some local London bookings and continued on up to stardom from there. They even ended up with a successful long-running TV series of their own! Their exquisite class and humble personalities are no doubt, at least partly to thank for the flourishing careers they led. These three were bombshells inside and out!
Posed perfectly above, the girls exude grace, femininity and sheer utter style. Their beautiful black fur-trimmed overcoats, low heels, and top-handle bags would undoubtedly be considered elegant and trendy even today, almost 45 years later. Their grand blend of fashion and poise is, in my opinion, worthy of being labeled iconic, and in honor of these elegant ladies, I decided to try and recreate this timeless look. I’ve chosen a modern day ensemble that I hope would make the Beverley Sisters proud!
