I feel like there should be a sign reading, “Beware! Do Not Touch!” on this handbag. This Christian Louboutin Spike Studded Shopper certainly has a lot of bite, thanks to its spiky trim. It’s like carrying around a cactus for a purse. The purse also features suede trim and patent leather cutouts, plus woven handles. There’s a lot going on here, but I don’t think I’m a fan. In fact, it scares me a little. Available for $2,995 at Bergdorf Goodman.

 Now this is what I call a show-stopping purse. This Valentino Ricamo Macro Paillettes Tote is a hefty handbag completely covered with black and white paillettes. The purse has a sort of circus-meets-art deco appeal about it, though I might worry that those beautiful paillettes might easily get torn off. Still, if shimmying handbags are your thing, this might be right up your alley. Available at Bergdorf Goodman for $2,395.

Prefer your ladylike Dior with a girlish twist? Then you’ll likely fall for this ultra-feminine and flirty Dior Ruffled Flap Shoulder Bag, resplendent in a bright crimson lambskin. The purse boasts the signature hand-stiched Dior cannage pattern, but its the sweet ruffled trim outlining the handbag that gives it that girlish glee. What would a Tim Burton tribute be without the Olsen twins? Er…don’t answer that. Nonetheless, the dynamic duo hit up a party celebrating the eccentric director’s MoMA exhibit with twin Hermes handbags - a Birkin and a Kelly (cause the girls are so different, you know). If I were a twin I would avoid carrying the same handbag as my sister, but that’s just me. What do you think?

Seeing Victoria Beckham without an Hermes purse is like seeing Crocodile Dundee without an animal skin, but I guess the starlet makes exceptions for Louis Vuitton. And apparently they make exceptions for her. Beckham’s massive (for her, at least) Louis Vuitton Fox Tail Fur Tassels Messenger Bag is from the label’s spring/summer 2010 collection, which means it’s not even out in stores yet. Though I envy Beckham’s pull, I’m not really that blown away by the handbag – who wants a fox tail hitting their knee every second?

With plum roles in “An Education” and “Wall Street 2,” which also stars her new boyfriend, Shia LaBeouf (hate her yet?), Carey Mulligan pretty much has it made right now. The young actress looked chic on the film’s set in a fall-appropriate pea coat and scarf, plus a deep garnet Burberry tote slung over her shoulder. I love the handbag, and I adore the mix of rich autumnal hues. So much more interesting than your basic black.

Like any good tourist, Rihanna hit up London wearing a love-it-or-hate-it fanny pack, though, if it’s any consolation, hers was a monogrammed Louis Vuitton version in oatmeal-hued leather.
