I have done blind dates in the past. Some OK, some not. In general I don't think it's a bad idea. I have known people who got married to people they met on blind dates.
You have to trust the person who sets you up though. Some people just like to set people up because they're single; it's like a game to them. From my experience, those are the ones to steer clear of.
