Before we had kids, eating out was pretty cheap. Value meals at McDonalds, etc. But with two teenage boys, we cannot possibly afford to eat out that often. Take their school lunches. $5 apiece, $10 a day, $50 a week. I make their lunches; two loaves of bread, lunchmeat, snack, fruit and drinks (I make koolaid) all for about $20 -$25 a week. Eating out may seem cheaper for one particular meal, but if you have the items on hand on a regular basis, such as bread crumbs or the seasonings, etc, you buy the meat when it is on sale and freeze it and you don't have to purchase everything all at one time.
