Working in a clothing store is not as easy as it looks. I never realized this untill I started working in one recently.
Before when I would go shopping I thought their jobs were easy and fun looking. Just arranging clothes on racks every so often and using the cash register. No big deal right?
Wrong! Its MUCH harder than it looks. First of all, using the cash register can be difficult at times. For example if someone is tax exempt, you have to enter that into the till, and you have to enter it in at a certain point in the transaction only or else it screws it up. You have to use your "F" keys ( like the ones on your computer's keyboard) to change the price on items, and you have to rember which key is for which function. Then there is the issue of returns, you have to do everything in reverse when a customer returns an item
Eventually you get the hang of it, but what makes it hard is when you are still learning and you have a customer waiting and getting imaptient.
Another isse is the clothes that people try on and don't buy. They need to be put away. Assuming each customer leaves 5 items and you have 50 customrers thats 250 items that need to be put away in their proper place ( it can be hard to find the proper place when the other employyes change everything around so much on your off days!)
Also you have to go into the change room area and check on customers to see if they need sizes. At the same time you have to put clothes away and ring items through the till .. it can get hectic when there are only 2 people working in a large store
I just wanted to make people aware that it can be a difficult job at times. I think some cuxtomers are like I was and thought it was super easy. I believe if everyone knew that it isn't, everyone who works in stores would have an overall better time, because customers would be more patient
