Choosing a swimsuit
I am really good at finding swimsuits for everyone. I thought I would post my tips since spring break is comming up soon
First of all, decide what your body type is. Are you slim with a boyish figure,( like Nicole Richie) pair shaped, ( big bottom like Jennifer Lopez) full figured ( heavier than average) or top heavy ( with large breasts)?
Ok now that you have decided which one you are here are my tips!
Boyish figure: what you may want to do is add the illusion of curves. You can do this buy wearing a swimsuit (either a bikini or tankini or even a one piece) that has a busy pattern, preferably a large busy pattern such as big polk- a -dots as opposed to small ones. Bright colors are good. Avoid dark colors. Anything with ruffles around the bust is perfect for this body type. String bikinis are not that good for this body type because they are so tiny and can emphasize a pelvic bone that may stick out. It's better to go with a fuller bottom piece. THe kind of top you choose shouldn't matter too much unless it's not super tiny or too tight which can emphasize a small bust. Padded tops are obvioulsy your friend if you have a small bust.
Pair shaped: This body type looks best in either a two piece suit with dark bottoms and a bright or lighter colored top or a one piece that has two main colors to it, dark on the bottom and some other more vivid color on top.
This body type is really easy to work with because all you have to do is minimize your bottom half! Very easily done with dark colours. You may also want to try experimenting with a sarong to wear over your bathing suit, whichever style you choose.
Full Figured: Women with this body type sometimes feel like they can't wear two pieces. They would be wrong. THere are plenty of women who wear them and look really good.
A few points to remember are that if you decide to get a bathing suit with a pattern, smaller patterns are always better. Avoid horizontal stripes. You may want to wear a tankini if you are self conscious about showing too much belly. Dark colors work well with this body type. If you have a large bust, be sure to get a bathing suit, ( whichever style you choose two piece or one piece) with a supportive top. String bikinis often don't work well with a large bust because the strings just aren't strong enough to hold the top properly in place. If you are going for a two piece, defintley choose a top with thicker straps and hook- and eye- closure in the back. ( like a bra has)
Top Heavy: The main point to remember if you have this body type is to be sure you get a top that has good support. String bikinis are again a no no for this body type because you just never know how strong the strings are going to be or if they are going to hold everything in place for the entire day at the beach or pool. With time they loose their elasticity so it's honeslty best to go with a hook and eye closure top, like a bra has in the back.
Huge prints on the bust or ruffles or other details are not a good idea. You might want to pair either a dark top piece with a lighter or bright coloured bottom piece or experiment with tankinis if you are wearing a two piece and really shy about showing too much skin or go with a one piece that has dark colors on the top part and lighter ones on the bottom.
The most important tip for everyone to remember is that no matter what your body type, EVERYONE has flaws and everyone has things that they are not 100% comfortable with.
Don't waste time feeling bad about yourself for any reason, it's not worth it and someone is probably wishing they could trade body types with you because no one is ever completley satisfied.
