VBAC stands for vaginal birth after c-section, and its a cause of debate amongst some women and their OBGYNs.

Post c-section there is a small risk of uterine rupture if a woman delivers normally. Associated with this risk is the risk of death to both mother and child, but the risks can be minimised and a successful birth can more often than not be allowed. C-sections are major abdominal surgery and cause hugely increased birth recovery times.

Despite the risks being so low, many hospitals will not even allow a woman to try and birth normally. I think that this is one of the factors that has increased c-section rates, as per my other thread.

I'd like to hear how other women feel about this-about some hospitals ordering them to have a repeat surgery rather than even allowing them to try and give birth themselves.
