Hey Fellow Coach Lovers,
I was talking to a cousin of mine who lives in Arizona about my recent purchase (Mia Satchel) at the Coach factory, when she then told me about a promotion from Sophisticated Wears, which is "an incentive promotion program where consumers can receive a gift (in this case, a Coach bag) after fulfilling participation requirements." My cousin recently did the program and she is currently waiting for her Coach Katy tote after having fulfilled her requirements: answering a survey, signing up for offers with fees totaling less than $13.00 and getting only one other person to do the same. She said that someone else who had completed the offers had already received her beautiful Katy tote through Sophisticated Wears. Just $13.00 for those Legacy stripes?!! I was intrigued!
After my cousin sent me the Sophisticated Wears link, I spent many hours carefully reading through and deciphering the fine print of the terms and conditions of the overall incentive promotion, as well as each and every one of the offers. Although the bad part is that you are allowing companies like Stamps.com and Baby Einstein to use your email address and whatnot, I really, REALLY want that Katy tote so I've decided to go for it.
But to protect myself and my credit rating, I'm taking the following precautionary measures (to keep my cost at ONLY $13):
1. I set up a secondary email at yahoo.com to avoid spam in my main email account
2. I informed my credit card company that I was going to make ONLY 6 online transaction for trial offers in straight succession and to contact me if there's any other, possibly suspicious activity
3. I went to the site ( mine is the following:

4. I picked out the Coach Bag I wanted: Coach Katy Travel Tote. If you skip this, they might give you the Carly Signature.
5. I completed the first survey with all "no's." Pretty tedious, but the survey DOES end eventually. Also, the survey offerings don't count towards the requirements to receive your Coach purse, so why select yes?
6. Then in the actual offering section, I chose the following offers in each category (these were the lowest fees I could find and I read ALL of the offers' terms and conditions):
Silver 1 – $1.95 Goggle Money Tool (cancel # 866-652-0479)
Silver 2 – $1.99 Grant Mentor (866-407-1028)
Hit "NEXT" to get to Gold level (careful you're not still in Silver - if you do 3 in silver and 1 in gold, it could disqualify you, according to the terms. My observation is that the offers are the same in all levels)
Gold 1 – $2.00 Privacy Matters 123 and Saving Smart (877-993-6264 and 800-316-8774)
Gold 2 – $0.00 Stamps.com (website)
Hit "NEXT" to get to Platinum level (careful you're not still in Gold!)
Platinum 1 – $2.00 Price Store/Bargain Network (website)
Platinum 2 – $3.99 Baby Einstein (website and return a book)
(OR $4.87 – Grant Funding Source (800-558-0064) if you don't want to bother mailing back a Baby Einstein book to get a $9.99 refund. I chose Baby Einstein because I could give the free gifts to my best friend who's expecting her 2nd baby)
7. Then as I completed each offer, I immediately printed out the confirmation number and/or email confirming same. I'm keeping all this in one folder.
8. Also in the folder is a simple 5 x 6 table I created which includeds each offer's name, fee amount, sign up date, cancellation deadline and offer's toll free number/email for cancellation. I decided to count three days from the sign up date (or from the date product is received) and wrote down the exact date (where applicable) I absolutely needed to call to cancel the offer trial membership so as to not incur any additional charges. I decided on using 3 days from the sign up instead of going to 7 or 10, just in case!
