I haven't (wish it would stop though!) I have heard of this and some of the causes could be stress, excerse (if you do too much). Sorry I can't be of help.

Not only that, but weight loss can cause amenorrhea too especially if the loss is too fast. Dropping below 105lbs can cause this too, because it is around the 98-105lb range that the body starts making certain hormones.

I didn't know about the 98-105lb range. Is that true for young girls? That could give a mother a heads up to when her cycle could possibly start.

Yes, that's when the period starts. It may be that in particularly heavy younger girls that the rest of the body is not as advanced as the child's age, and so weight alone would not do it. But for those that are developing normally, it can be a good indicator.

I can't add much, but I would like to second the weight / stress thing - I lost a lot of weight after a serious stomach infection and my periods stopped. I gained some of the weight back, but I still didn't start again for quite a few months, the doctor said it might have been because of the stress of catching back up after missing almost an entire term at uni.

I went 7 months without having a period. I went to the doctors and found out I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome which means I have a bunch of cysts on my ovaries which cause infertility. My husband and I have been trying for a baby since August 2004. She should go to the doctors and be checked out. I also read and heard from my doctors (yes I have many of them) that it's normal for women to not get their period every month.

No problem. Some people think I'm making it up, but my friend has the same problem. I think she's going on 5 months or something.

I get painful periods but it's because the cysts are breaking off. But when you're trying to get pregnant getting your period has never been the best feeling in the world! haha

My hubby and I have been trying since August 2004 and it's driving us crazy. I mean my best friend is the same age as me and is going to have her 3rd baby in june. My cousin has 3. I'm like the only one who doesn't have a child yet. I'm happy for them but I'm like when is it going to be my turn?
