Default Favourite Exfoliator

I am in the mood for trying something new. I need a gentle, hypo-allergenic exfoliator for my face. I have combination skin and really bad dry patches at the temples that I would like to clear, as well as trouble spots around my chin.

Is there anything you would recommend?

Since I use Lancome's long-wearing Teint Idole (sp?), I always use either an Olay or Dove cleansing cloth (but I cut them in half to be economical) every night. It's got the cleanser on one side and then I rinse the cloth with water and scrub the suds and makeup off. They're disposable so I don't have to mess with any washcloths. It's been working great!

I suffered from embarrassing acne from about 12 until 18. I finally got on retina-a after h.s. graduation and my life changed for the better! To maintain clear skin, I had to always scrub off oil, dirt and dead skin cells so I used a large Buff Puff throughout college, but then switched to the single serve Buf-Puffs (the one for sensitive skin) which was less germy. The single serve Buff Puffs also worked really well since there's already cleanser in it. Plus I love that I can also scrub any long-wearing lipstick traces off my lips with either buf-puff or the cleansing cloth.

As for St. Ives scrub, I found it was a little too rough and caused inflammation on my face.

I'm having trouble with the St Ives too. I have several packets of cleansing/ex foliating cloths (that I too cut in half ) that I bought in the UK, and since I can't get more any time soon I use them sparingly. Now I need something I can get here nice and easily.

Britjojo - those cloths are in supermarkets, drug stores, and also at big box stores like Sam's Club, Costco and BJ's Warehouse. Since we have a tight budget, I do most of my shopping at one of these clubs (so worth the membership fee) and I get a giant box of the cloths in the health and beauty section. You also save on everything from cereal to meats - I'll buy a giant package of chicken breasts, divide into four of five freezer bags, freeze and defrost when needed.

Are they the pre moistened or the dry cloths? Just curious, trying to see how they compare to what I use now.

The next thing is, where would I find that kind of thing in something like Sam's? The place is so big that I tend to only come out with half of what I went in for

Johnsons make an exfoliating facial wash that is very gentle - it's part of their clean and clear range. They do two versions of it, or used to. The only one I can find now is the moisturising one. I used to use the 're-vitalising' one, but in the UK at least I can't find anywhere selling it.

Try this link for Olay Daily Facials at Sam's:
Sam's Club - Olay® Daily Facials - 4/30 ct. packs

These are the dry ones - never liked the wet ones! In Sam's, they're in the health/beauty/medicine area, usually on the side of the store opposite where all the electronics are.

Sam's has an awesome "Click n Pull" service where you pre-order all of your non-perishables by computer and in 24 hours, they'll load everything in a shopping cart for you, waiting for your arrival! Pretty cool when you've got patient little ones in tow!
