Default Hayfever Eyes

My seasonal allergies have finally hit and my eyes are puffy, red and they itch like crazy. It's driving me nuts I never liked taking a systemic allergy med, always preferred eye drops, but am now in a new country and so I don't know the meds here. Is there anything you would recommend, OTC?

Ugh - my dh and I have the same problem! It's brutal out here in PA! I don't know of an OTC but we use Bausch and Lomb's "Patanol" by Rx. Perhaps ask a pharmacist?

I've heard really good things about Patanol, just not ready to go there just yet. I tried the Visine seasonal allergy two days ago and it's ok but leaves me with other issues so I don't think I will use it again.

However I went looking for calamine lotion today for my daughter's prickly heat, and found some antihistamine drops! WOOT! Unopened, bought in preparation for this summer, I just forgot. Can't help being blonde.

britjojo - hooray - you found the antihistamine drops!

don't know what you're experiencing with visine, but when i use the patanol, i have to wait one minute before putting in my contact lenses.

I no longer wear corrective lenses, having outgrown my astigmatism YAY! (at 28 I might add.....) Initially when I put the drops in they feel great-cooling and the itch stops. But about five minutes later they become over dry, a new itch starts-feels different, and it is hard to blink.
