I use Qtips in my ears everyday after I shower and I never know how deep Im supposed to go into my ears when I clean them.
I know if you go too deep and take too much protective wax out it can lead to infection. Anyone know the best way to clean your ears? Sorry to sound gross
I think there's some sort of a barrier that protects the inner ear from getting reached by the cotton bud. Just don't press it too hard and don't clean your ears everyday. I also wet the tip with alcohol to clean my ears.
They make special "safety" ones that are shaped in such a way that they only go a little bit into the ear canal, reducing the danger of perforating one's eardrum.

I didn't know that you shouldn't clean your ears everyday. I clean mine every morning when I am done showering. I just barely put the q-tip in the inner ear opening. I go around the ear and in the back of the ear.

I know, right! I was, like, OMG, you can go deaf from that? Although, I've always known you should poke real hard with the Qtips. I thought that was pretty common sense but I know some people who get really hardcore with their Qtips.
