Super Size Me is a documentary about fast food. It's a real eye opener, I personally hate fast food and won't touch it, but it's plain that it is a major cause of obesity in the US.
What I really think is sad, is what it's doing to children and from personally experience I know that kids don't understand why they can't go get a happy meal when all they can think about is the toy they saw advertised.
What it did to that guy's health was incredible. I eat very little fast food, but everyone in awhile I just need some french fries. I don't think occasionally every couple months is a bad thing. It probably isn't even a bad thing once a month. He was eating nothing but McDonalds for 3 meals a day. What else can you expect?
I think the shocking thing was how rapidly his health declined. Common since tells most people that fast food isn't healthy, but I don't think some realize how unhealthy it is. We all have those things we just have to have, moderation is always the key.
I agree with Prettyinpink. What else would you expect when somebody eats the food at least 3 times a day for a month. Most people aren't eating to the rules that were specified for him.
I personally never saw that documentary, but my bf and I get fast food about once a week and that's only if we are getting home from work late and neither of us feels like cooking...
Well, I saw the film. Twice in fact. And yet still I go to fast food places, probably as often as once a week. But given the otherwise healthy state of my diet, I am not concerned. I do not go there and have a huge tray of burger, fries and soda. We each order one burger, the smallest there is, with cheese. Diet soda, and nothing else.
If that is going to kill me, once a week, then I will quite happily accept death.
Britjojo, you cracked me up again, there are foods that I eat that I figure if it's going to kill me then so be it, because I cannot live without them. It's like Mel Gibson said in Braveheart, "Everyman dies, but not everyman truly lives"!
