Default Exercise and Itch

When I go running, the skin on the back of my upper arms, thighs and all around my torso gets really itchy. I'm not sure why this is, and it makes it really distracting when I am trying to exercise.
Does this happen to anyone else and if so, any tips on how to stop this?

Hmmm...do you have dry skin? A rash?

I would wonder if it's from your workout gear, or even from just sweating.

I've never developed itchy skin while working out. It could have something to do with the salt in your sweat... Maybe it is giving you dry skin?

I experience this when I am exercising on my elliptical. It is so irritating. My solution is baby powder. Dust some on yourself before you start exercising, that should help! It works for me.

Do you also sweat when you are not exercising? Do you get itchy too around that time?

You could be allergic to your workout gear or lycra?

Sounds like a good excuse to not work out!

Hi, a friend of mine was having the same problem and the doctor advised her to apply a good body lotion at night and when you go for workout sprincle some babypowder on the problem areas.

I think it will work on you as well....

You can try some good moisturuser, may be this happens because of your dry skin.

you can make use of some anti itching talc on your problem areas, or taking a shower after the exercise would be the better option!!!

I...don't think there's such a thing as a sweat allergy.

Anyhoo, aside from what everybody said, it might be your muscles starting to finally burn. Does it feel itchy or kind of...prickly?

This is surprisingly common! My doctor says it's a histamine release. A (non-drowsy) antihistamine like Claritin taken prior to your workout should help.

The best way is to go to your doctor and tell her about that. We might be advising you some things that could even worsen your symptoms.
