Default Does whitening toothpaste even work??

I've been using the same whitening toothpage for years (Crest) and my teeth still aren't white, lol. Theyre not bad but they should be gleeming by now.
Do you ladies use anything that actually works?
I heard Rembrandt whitening toothpaste works well but its a little pricey so wont buy it until I know it works.

Go Smile is a pretty effective tooth whitener. I think the Crest whitening strips are amazing too...I've gotten compliments since I started using them.

I don't think the toothpastes work worth a darn for whitening. I've heard that other products like the whitening strips work well, though.

I've tried the Therabreath toothpaste and it helps in whitening the teeth. I wasn't even expecting that to happen. I was just curious about the oxygen thing on the product that says it gives you fresher breath. Not even a morning breath.

I get many compliments on my smile and the color of my teeth. I don't think my teeth are white like some people say when I look at them in the mirror but in pictures, they are whiter than I think they are.

I currently use Colgate Total Whitening Paste toothpaste and I have used Crest Whitestrips Renewal Age-Defying Strips (the 10 day formula). I have also used the 30 day formula/strips.

I tried Listerine Whitening Pre-Brush Rinse but after about two days, I noticed increased tooth sensitivity (to hot and cold drinks) and my dentist advised me to stop using it.

Are your teeth stained from food / smoking / certain drinks, or are they just not gleaming white?

My dentist hates whitening toothpastes. He says that a lot of people who use them are damaging their teeth, because the colour they are trying to get rid of is the natural colour of the enamel.

I'm not sure if whitening strips work in the same way as the toothpastes, but it's something worth looking in to.

That's interesting about what dentists think about whitening toothpaste! I have to say that when I used the Rembrandt product (the small tubes - a little expensive) religiously, my teeth really did turn whiter - just in time for my wedding day. I realized they were whiter than everyone else's after I got back all my wedding pic proofs! There's no fluoride in them, so I'd first brush with a regular toothpaste, then I'd brush the front top and front bottom with rembrandt - and you had to use a full brush worth for at least one whole minute. I'd also not rinse my mouth out for about an hour. Since I stopped using the rembrandt, I do think my teeth aren't as white. I use Sensodyne whitening and I don't know if that's working as well. Anther thing that's weird about whitening paste is that you wake up with a stringy residue in your mouth - strange.

I dont think they work. I've also tried baking soda and with no effect. I've asked the dentist of anything that can help, I forgot what the exact procedure is called but I think it uses laser and the price she gave me was $200. Wow!

I'm a bit wary of using whitening products because I've heard they're not good for your teeth. In fact I was watching the TV the other day, and on a show they said that only two out of all the whitening products on the market contained the right level of some chemical - all the others had way over the limit of what was allowed.

I do wish my teeth were a bit whiter though.

I've been using the aquafresh extreme clean with the whitening and I've gotten compliments from it.

I think they work, but it depends on the cause of the yellowing of the teeth. Coffee, tobacco, and simply aging can cause yellowing. If you go to the dentist and have your teeth cleand every six months, these stains can easily be controlled by whitening toothpastes, for me anyway.

I will have to try to toothpaste. I used to use the strips but have quit since it didn't look like it was doing anything. I am thinking about treating myself to the dentist to have it done.
