Toe socks and flip flops

So a few months ago my boyfriend and I went to Columbus Market. It was very cold but I decided to look cute and where shorts and flip flops . Well, as the hour went on and I got colder my boyfriend bought me some sweatpants and toe socks. I put the toe socks on with my flip flops at Columbus and people started to look at me strangely...

What's wrong with wearing toe socks with flip flops? I don't think I've ever seen anyone else do it.. but It's pretty comfy! Anyone else ever wear toe socks with flip flops?
