Default Hair Removal

To shave or not to shave. That is the question.

May I know what methods you use in hair removal? I am shaving me legs and I always get a cut especially when I'm in a hurry. And another problem is when I'm done shaving, after 1 day it's itching and I can't stop but to scratch the sensitive shaved skin. What do you think? I want to try some other methods and I want to know what is best for you... Thanks!

Maybe try a different shaving gel? Skintimates has one for sensitive skin. Waxing can also irritate the skin, and it hurts. Same with Nair. There's always electrolyosis, but it's very expensive.

What do you guys think of Veet Cream? I am having second thoughts of using those types because the first time I removed my hair was by using depilatory creams and I think I am allergic to them, plus the fact that I couldn't use them when I need to get thins done fast.

@ lucky pinay: How much, on the average, does laser hair removal cost? Is it permanent? And would it hurt?

@ erindallas: I've heard of electrolysis, but does it hurt?

i think the range for laser hair removal can vary from $100-$500 per session but i don't know if it will hurt or not since i haven't had it done yet

i get my legs waxed and i am really comfortable with it. Once in a while in urgency i may shave them or use a hair removal cream and for that i use Veet. It is very good for sensitive skin.

I also prefer waxing than shaving, although shaving helps especially when I'm in a hurry. I get my legs waxed and my underarms too. I haven't tried Veet, but Sally Hansen is great!

I am a big shaving fan, simply because I don't have the pain tolerance for waxing. For the sensitive skin question, Skintimate makes a really good shaving cream for sensitive skin. Shave slowly and rinse your blade often. When you're done, moisturize with a good lotion.

To me waxing is a great alternative to shaving. I have my legs waxed at my salon, and the more you have it done the finer the hair grows out. As far as laser hair removal, it's very expensive and it hurts. OUCH!

I just shave; I have waxed a couple of times but didn't really like it, because it didn't get a smooth finish.

I have a friend who had laser hair removal and she said it was more painful that her labor pains when she had her baby. She said it was like someone heated a needle to about 700 degrees and then stuck her with it again and again. Yikes!

I use Nair sometime when I am being lazy it works but it is mess to me. I also shave with shaving gel it faster and less painful.

I just use the cheap men's saving cream (the ones for sensitive skin) and they work great. Also, they are less expensive than the ones made especially for women. I don't really think there is a difference.

I use Gillette shaving gel and a double bladed razor with wire guards to shave - I haven't cut myself in a very long time. I used to wax, and it stung a bit but wasn't too bad - the reason I stopped was because it was too messy and time consuming. It only takes a couple of minutes to shave, and sure, you need to do it more often than you need to wax, but if you're going in the bath or shower anyway then it doesn't make that much difference to your daily routine.

I actually prefer waxing, but it does take way too much time for me to do it often. I did depilatories for awhile but started having reactions, so I've gone back to shaving with cheap disposable razors and Skintimate shave gel.

I shave but I hate it. Depilatory creams never worked-they just turned my hair to glue and I had to shave this gunky stuff off instead, and I never liked pain enough to try waxing.

Have you ever tried the schick quatro lady shaver? My daughter needed to start shaving, but I was so nervous that we started her on nair, but then that just got to be a huge pain. Then one day when I was shaving with my new razor I realized that I didn't even feel the blade, but it gave me a great shave. So I purchased my daughter one of the razors.

That sounds like a good idea. I assume that it is one of those that has the blade protector strips? The question is, with it being protected like that, is it still effective?

I've found it to be a very effective razor and I'm a very overprotective mother so I think for me it says a lot that I am comfortable with my daughter using it.

I can vouch that guards on the blades don't reduce the closeness of the shave - they just make you far less likely to cut yourself.
