Default Do you have a job?

Please let everyone know that feminism did help... and a lot of women have jobs now? I'm interested what kind of job you have!

I still study, but for job experience I work for 6 months every day at a design company. My main task is to make 3 computergames for a website, I really love it. I have to think about what games to make, I draw the characters and I code it. I also help my collegues with little things like advertisements and folders.

I really love this job. I really want to keep this work. When I want children in a few years I think my boyfriend will be the housekeeper and "mother" for the children. Gladly he likes that

This smilie fits perfect with my job, lol!

Default I went through at least 4 careers

when I was young I was an EMT firefighter when I was older I went to school to be a Doctor if Integrative complimentary medicine, then I went to school to be a Pharmacy Technician.

All a big bust in this area where I live.
I then decided to focus on what I like best, writing and making dolls and crafts. So for 25 years I have done that.
Most recently I got into doing product demonstrations and merchandising. I work two days a week and the rest of the time is mne and I pull in a nice salary. being as I am 46 I see myself being amerchandiser for a few more years and the retiring.

I work as a freelance writer. It's actually really convenient, because I work from home and make my own schedule. So, when I have kids, I can still work and decide for myself how I want to work my schedule.

I work from home as a medical transcriptionist. It can be really stressful sometimes, but I feel really good being able to stay at home with my daughter.

I really enjoy reading everyone's posts After college, I worked at non-profit organizations for about 7 years - intrinsically rewarding but terrible pay. I then got into HR type work for govt. and corporate for the following 6 years. Great money but long hours, competitive and I questioned if it was my true vocation/calling.

My division was downsized (a blessing!) and my hubby and I decided I'd try to be a stay-home Mom. After two years, I went back to doing part-time HR work, mainly from home a few days a week so I can still be a full-time mom. This job is fine for now but I'm planning on making another career change by heading to grad school next year to become a school counselor, my real dream job!

After exploring various jobs in my single, younger years (I'm glad I had the chance to "try on" many different hats) and then marrying, having kids and realizing how beneficial and crucial it is for me to be available to my little ones, I've decided that I must pursue a career that is both fulfilling for me and flexible for my family's needs, because ideally I want to be here after school and when they have holidays and summer vacation. It's funny, I never even thought about how a family would impact my career when I was dreaming of what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Kitsch - Congrats to your sister! That is one terrific accomplishment! I admire nurses and teachers so much - they work so hard with their heart and soul to care for others even thought they don't always get the compensation they deserve (like doctors' and principals' salaries - altho the nurses and teachers really do 90% of the work!).

The grass ain't always greener... as they say. Sometimes I wish I did have a great-paying full-time job like you, Kitsch, so my husband and I could eat out more, travel, have more things (like wonderful designer handbags, new clothes, shoes and even manicures!), etc. But I did splurge on myself when I was in my 20's (LOVED IT!) and then at 32 met my true love, married him and started a family. The beginning of a new era.

So to all you young single gals out there... enjoy your life now, be courageous and try out new careers so you can find your passion, and don't rush to settle down! Have fun!

I have just a little job that I do from home. I have a young child to care for, and choose to raise her myself rather than put her in day care. I bring home just about $100 a week, which with child support is enough for us to live on comfortably.

I went to uni to study computer science, and before my daughter I was working as an IT tech.

Really, if you have the chance to do so and in doing avoid putting your child in daycare, its a wonderful option. I realise that some mums are only mums by accident and perhaps were not prepared to be a parent, and maybe for them daycare is best so that they get a break from caring for their child themselves. But for me, it's great.

I'm self employed, in a partnership with my husband - we're both freelance journalists. The business is still pretty young, we're barely, just barely turning a profit - but even though financially we're worse off than when we were both working full time, I could never go back to working for someone else - the freedom is just too satisfying, and the perks of the job (a lot of travel) are too cool

I am really lucky that my husband agreed to try this out - sometimes we do feel a bit sick of not being that well off, but then we think of all the stuff we've been able to do because of being self employed and it cheers us up.

I'd love to work at Disney World - maybe not during the busy summer months (it must be hard work then?) but when its quieter I bet its a great job.

Girls, feminism is in abject failure.

Let's look at hillary, joycelen elders, The lady at HP, etc.

Margaret Thatcher was no feminist and neither is Ricci.

Ricci does not work. Ricci owns several companies and will run circles around any of you hard workin feminists who think you can swing the hammer like the men

Who cares? That's what I say. Go do what you do and don't worry about making some kinda statement, how dumb is that?

You wanna be a nurse? be one! You wanna be a lawyer? Be one? But be kitch or katy or chloe, NOT a lamo feminist.

Cmon girls!
