pinkbag.... it only costs money, not earn!
But I think you are right. (I don't have kids yet tough)
Since a week I work at a design company, and I really love it. I can do so many things there! Drawing, talking with clients, make cool computergames and websites, design advertisements. And of course drink lots of coffee, talk with collegues about funny flash animations on the internet, etc.
But I think if you can make a living with being an artist that's great! I have painting as a hobby and went to an art academy for 6 months. But it's REALLY hard.

I don't think I would be able to handle that job... but it's really great that you can help people indeed. Being a designer, I have a really useless job. If I don't go to work I get some angry clients, but no one dies. And no one really cares. but when you are a doctor you have the chance to do something really good

I would love to be a travel writer. You stay in hotels and eat in nice restaurants for free in exotic cities, and then you write about it. Ta-da! Best job ever.

done a few things
I have been EMT, firefighter, Doctor of Alternative medicine, pharmacy technician,Draftsman, tutor, doll crafts projects designer( current) merchandiser ( current), author( current) reporter( current) MOM and WIFE.
of all these I would ahve to say merchandising is easiest . two days a weekand a nice paycheck.
Writing and dsiging projects is more fulfilling and fun.
I am lucky enough that I can bring in a bit of pocket change form that as well.

I agree with "pinkbag", being a Mom is the best ever! After that, I would love to volunteer (if money wasn't an issue) my time in the nursery at the hospital taking care of the newborns.

I agree, I have often said this would be a fabulous job.
However, being gone so much might get old after a while. And when you go on vacation, where do you go? You've seen it all! I bet these people prefer to vacation in their own backyards.
I think it would be fun to be a celebrity assistant.
