Default The Shooting This Week-Were You Affected?

I won't do into details as I am sure that everyone here is aware of what happened.

We have nephews at the college. One was due to be in that building, in the classroom next to where some were killed at the time that it happened. Luckily for us, he was out, being stupid, getting drunk, and was in such a bad and hungover state the next morning that he never made it to class. He finally emailed his mother after about four hours, because phones were jammed and he was unable to get word out.

To say the least it has been a tough week for the family.

Thanks goodness he wasn't there. I can't imagine what everyone at VT is going through. It's is just devisitating.
It is just horrific what's going on in the world right now. There have been so many threats this week, even my Daughter's school was on lockdown Friday because of a threat at the high school (which turned out to be nothing). I thought I could send my child to school and not worry, but I guess times have radically changed and that's not the case anymore.
My prayers are with those at Virginia Tech.

i felt really bad about it..it really affected me because this has happened so many times in the past ten years..the sad thing is this time the tragedy killed so many beautiful lives. i pray for the families of the victims and most especially for the family of the killer. he left his family with so much grief and mess to deal with. its just senseless..

Things happen for a reason and it was not meant for him to be there. I think that God takes place in a lot of things. I can remember when the
9-11 tragedy happen and a lot of people were telling the stories about how they were not there because of over sleeping or stopping to eat breakfast and this was just one of those things. I really glad for you and your family that he was not there because that is such a blessing and my heart goes out to all of those that were affected.

I went to Va tech from 1984-1987.....The dorm where the first shooting- West Ambler Johnston-was where I lived!!! Funny I can still remember my room number: 2076!! It was so odd to see pics of the campus..It was like going back in time..I just feel so awful for the families..I can't imagine for the life of me what they are still going through...Just awful..Brings back a lot of memories but now they're bittersweet....

I live in the UK, but I have a lot of friends that are closely involved with universities in the USA, and it has been a rough week for all of them. A lot of them are in the computer game industry, and they're organising charity rallies and stuff for the victims.

I think it's terrible what happened, and I'm glad your nephew wasn't there when it happened.
