Default 60th Birthday Gift?

A relative I don't usually buy for is having their 60th birthday soon, and since it's a big number, and they've had a lot of stress this year, I thought I'd try to do something for them.

I'm not sure what to get for them - I don't know their clothing size (and have no discrete way to find out). I know they like Avon cosmetics, but since they're my Avon dealer that idea wouldn't work.

Music / DVDs / Books just seem tacky for such a big day.

So, that just leaves jewellery. I've only ever seen them wear their wedding ring and one bracelet though...

Do you think getting a bracelet for the other wrist that compliments the one I've seen them wearing would be considered a nice gesture? When I get jewellery, sometimes it's exactly my thing and I really like it, other times I feel obliged to wear it because the person obviously spent a lot, but really its something I hate.

The other choice is finding somewhere that does jigsaw printing and getting a special photo done for her - she loves jigsaws.

I'd love to hear what people think.

you could also collect pictures of the celebrant and do a mosaic? and print it and frame it?? or maybe collect pictures and give an album?

since its a birthday a gift that holds beautiful memories would surely be nice

She has lots of albums already, but I like the photomosaic idea - I don't think she has any of those. I have some software that can generate them. There's a 'photos on canvas' place nearby that does amazing prints - I wonder if a photmosaic would come out well on that kind of material.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Have you considered a gift certificate to a day spa? I don't know her, so I don't know if she would be interested, but it really is a great gift.
