Court Case Thursday
Well, we finally hit the courts about child support on Thursday this week. I cannot tell you how scared I am. My husband is a violent man and being made to wait in the same waiting room, potentially alone with him, scares the crap out of me.
But it's got to be done. Wish me luck ladies.

Dearest Britjojo - I hope that you hold your head HIGH and don't let him see one bit of fear from you! You are a strong and independent woman.... know this in your heart and don't let that man take this away from you! Just let him try to get violent in the court room... it'll work in YOUR favor when it comes time to deciding the child custody arrangement! We are all here for you!
We got yer back, girlfriend! That's your ex on the floor while one of us tPPer's gets him from behind! --->

Oh my, bless your heart. I know what your going through, it was the same when I divorced my first husband. When I left him, I didn't even tell my family where I was going because I feared him so much and when I had to go back there to go to court I was petrified. Luckly, I didn't have children with him. Is someone going with you for moral support? Elaine is right, if he tries anything there he would be a fool, but I know it's still scary.

i cannot imagine the hardships you went through with your first husband. living in fear must have been traumatic for you. i admire how you went on with your life and how you survived that.

Thanks girls! It went ok. The counsellor laid into me somewhat for my choice of employment and so I waived my rights to financial support, but requested health insurance continuance and support for my daughter which we got. My ex was his normal curt and sharp self, but the counsellor amazingly didn't seem to mind. Just laid into the person who actually had manners.....
But it's all over now and I can breath again.

... I'm also relieved for you, too, Britjojo! Always remember this moment when you were so very brave... so when the next challenge comes along you can remind yourself that you were courageous AND dignified before and you can do it again.

britjojo I don't think I could say it better then anyone else has, bravo to you for your courage and your manners! Seems to me manners don't get the attention they once did and should receive. Good for you!

I'm glad it went ok. Well done for being brave enough to go to court and get what is due to you. And hopefully things will be smoother from now on - but at least you know you have what it takes if they aren't
