Default When Is Too Late To Call?

The phone just went at 2:33am here What in crap makes people think that it's ok to call in the middle of the night-for nothing? It was not an important call, it was a chatty call from a friend who works evenings and just knocked off work. Well, we DON'T work evenings!

Wow, I can't believe she did that! When is the latest you consider acceptable?

Wow thats bad. For me I think 10pm is the latest I'd call someone, and maybe up to 11, but only if I knew my friend was up and didn't mind. But even then I'd be embarased to call.

How rude! If I know that the family I'm calling has kids, I will only call until 9 PM. If it's an urgent call, I will call up to 10 PM. I think 10 PM is acceptable.

9 pm seems very acceptable to take calls but no later unless it is an emergency.

that's just rude and inconsiderate. i think for acquaintances its acceptable to call until 10pm...later than that..calling is strictly for emergencies and family and closest friends.

I'd say 9 PM for friends or 10 PM for family unless it's an emergency.

I'm sad to say though, that having spent most of my life working evenings and nights, I have (only 2 or 3 times total) forgotten the hour and called someone at an ungodly time of day.

Trust me, I felt equally as bad about it as the person on the other end of the phone!

I agree, somewhere between 9 and 10 PM unless you know that the person is a night owl.

Did your friend realise the time? The closest to that I've ever done was accidentally leave my phone unlocked. I sat on it when I was heading to work at 5AM and it rang someone - that was pretty embarrasing.

Which is why I use caller ID and screen my call through the answering machine. If it's life or death I'll pick up. If not they can wait till morning. And eventually she'll get the message. If you pick up she'll keep calling unless you say something.

I won't call anyone after 10 and I always try to remain aware of time zone differences. I get pretty angry if someone calls me after 10, it's just plain out rude unless it is an emergency. When the phone rings in the middle of the night you tend to get a jolt thinking that something is wrong. People should keep that in mind before dialing to chit chat.

Well, same person did the said same thing again at 1:30am yesterday. So they clearly didn't learn anything from our last little 'chat'. How do I stop this without offending her? In fact offending wouldn't matter so much right now to get it to stop!
