Default What do you think of Google Maps?

I was agitated when I learned that I could type in my phone number and Google would have a map to my house posted, I had my phone number removed, but now Google has something else, the street view, talk about invasion of privacy!

What!

Atleast they can't google your address and get your phone number. Or can they?

That's terrible! I don't want anyone looking at where I live.

Unless it's Johnny Depp. Then I'll look. Or not. I probably wouldn't. But I would be tempted.

It's scary as can be. My sister's ex husband showed up on my Mom's doorstep out of the blue one day and I'm thinking he found her new address through Google. I've since removed my Mom's phone number so that the map won't come up to her place either.

Does the map only use land lines to locate houses? Can they show where you live if you just rent?

Only land lands show up from what I can tell and it makes no difference if you rent or own.

Cool, thanks for the info! I'm glad that I only have a cell phone!

I looked myself up, but honestly, you can't even tell there's a house there. It just looks like a big blob. Actually, if you put in my phone number, my husband's name comes up (which is so incredibly common) and a wrong name.

I've used Google Maps before to look at my house, but I never considered the possible problems in that ANYONE can look at where I live. Hmm...

Although, that's not as bad as something I found out the other day: I own a website and I found out that if I go on this site called Who Is and look up the domain, I'm able to see my full name, address and mobile phone number! And the scary thing is ANYONE can do this if they know about the Who Is website. I didn't realise that when I registered at the website they'd make my details publicly available
