New York Fashion Week Runway Report: Diane von Furstenberg
By: Erin D.
Wrap dresses were for the most part surprisingly absent from Diane von Furstenberg’s New York City ready-to-wear show. Instead, bold, office-ready black and red dresses ruled the runway, evoking a slight 1980s “Working Girl” vibe that was thankfully void of shoulder pads. Gray and silver embroided balloon dresses also glided down the catwalk, as did the occasional aqua and black shift. But for the most part, it was very Mondrian-esque - think graphic prints and polka dots in black, red, and fuschia. Not everything was a winner, but it’s nice to see Diane working with looser silhouettes.
