New York Fashion Week Runway Report: Nicole Miller
By: Erin D.
Nicole Miller is perhaps best known for her somewhat kitschy prints (lipstick tubes, leopard), so it was nice to see something new at her New York ready-to-wear show. The collection kicked off with a hierogylphic-like pattern that appeared in coats, skirts, fitted blazers, and linings. The addition of wide brown leather belts, white blouses, ski caps, and bowler hats recalled Argentinean style. The best pieces were the more formal outfits, including short black shift dresses with pockets and glamorous black dress coats with oversized bows. Hints of Georgia O’Keefe, and, in some cases, dowdy schoolmarms, appeared throughout.
