New York Fashion Week Runway Report: Bill Blass
By: Erin D.
Bill Blass and the words “youthful” and “hip” aren’t often uttered in the same sentence, but the label’s
2007 fall ready-to-wear collection at New York’s Fashion Week did deliver plenty of
timeless,
elegant pieces. Classic t
weed coats appeared in rich gray and purple tones, simple
shirtdresses had three-quarter sleeves and an almost girlish flounce, and one killer Chanel-ish
wool skirt suit screamed Jackie O. but was modernized by black leather gloves. There were lots of bold
autumn colors,
military-style buttons, loose
turtleneck dresses, wide necklines, and big
business suits with wide legs. Evening gowns included sexy
black strapless dresses, gold and silver sequined numbers, and one red carpet-worthy butter-hued gown with a plunging neckline. For once, there was something for every style and age group.
