New York Fashion Week Runway Report: Carolina Herrera
By: Erin D.

There’s nothing wrong with experimenting once in a while, but
Carolina Herrera would have been sticking to her classic, elegant designs this time around. Her
New York Fashion Week fall ready-to-wear collection had few bright spots, and an unappealing overabundance of grunge-y flannel, odd patches of fur, and generally over-the-top, ill-fitting pieces. The show almost had a Japanese avant garde to it. Disappointingly, only one of Herrera’s
evening gowns - something she’s renown for - could be called stunning. The rest were drab (thanks to a mostly neutral color palette) and just…odd. The only real standouts were some black and gray Jackie O.-style dresses shown in the beginning.
