Default A New Wardrobe

I'm working on building a new wardrobe. I want to mix classic pieces with trendier items? What are the must-haves?

I would like to start a new wardrobe myself it get more trendy items. I have old clothes like from when I was like 13 and 14 so they are not in style. I wish I could help Liz, but I am in the same boat needing something new.

You I have never wanted the white jeans or skirts, I guess I am just a blue jean tee shirt person you know and I see some modal and actress wear it well. Are you looking for a long shirt or mini I will keep an eye out for one for you.

Thanks! I'd like to get a traditional button down. Then I could tuck it in or leave it out, depending on my mood. So far, the ones I have found are too thin/see through or seem to restrict your movement.

Hey all -

Here's my advice for building a wardrobe... try to find a Banana Republic Factory Store! I built my professional wardrobe about 5 years ago with staples like trousers and sweater sets and button down shirts... and the styles are still "in" and the quality is fantastic! Caution: I did go back to the BR factory store last year and they were selling terrible stuff. Don't know if it was just that store. They have various degrees of quality - my good stuff said "Banana Republic Factory Store" on the label, but the really bad stuff had "Banana Republic" with a line through it. Maybe they were rejected! I also love the Limited (even though I was an Express girl for many years). Still wearing their suits years later, and I get compliments!

I am on a very tight budget and this is how I shop..through thrift stores.
I went two weeks ago and got a very nice white cotton shirt with ruffled sleeves ,a wide black leather belt that was just screaming "HELLO...someone look at me and take me home!!"
and a pair of Khaki pants. Then I got really lucky because a friend of my brother-in-laws gave him a bunch of shirts, and a white tuxedo shirt caught my attention.Mine,mine,mine.

Now all I have to do is add stuff around the things I bought.Oh and a very nice patent leather bag too.

Kitsch, in addition to my handbag splurges, I also bought four new Sweet Pea tops and Diesel shorts from Bluefly! Can't wait to get them. I needed some summer stuff badly... I just wear beat-up t's and sweats and clothes that are at least 4 years old unless they're newly purchased from Sam's or Costco (both devoid of fashionable selections)!

My wardrobe is a mess too, I only have one 'smart' suit, and one good party / clubbing dress.

Everything else is in the realms of casual - thankfully I have a versatile skirt and jeans in almost every cut and colour. The problem is if I need to look smart two days running, I'll have to seriously accessorise otherwise I'll look stupid on the second day
