Default Purse or Diaper Bag?

I still remember the day that I retired my favourite purse in favour of my first diaper bag. I knew that day that I needed to put it in a safe place, because there was every chance that I would not be using anything that small and neat for many years to come.

I sometimes think that maybe I could get away with it for this trip. Maybe if I am quick I can get to the store and back before it's time for a diaper change. But that would be the time that she pooped in the store, and so I come to my senses.

How did you feel when parting with your purse?

i chose to buy a large purse which looks smart and at the same time accomodates all the things of a diaper bag as well...specially the kind of large purses being in vogue these days, this has become very easy to carry off...

Forget the diaper bag! I carry my own large purse (Coach Mia Satchel) and just 2 diapers and a small ziplock of about 6-10 wipes, all in a larger ziplock bag! Those small plastic wipes carriers are still too bulky to carry. If I need to bring a sippy cup, I'll also put that in a separate ziplock bag along with any snacks like teddy grahams and pop it into my bag, without worrying about spillage. I also throw any extra baby supplies in the stroller basket and keep extra diapers, wipes and spare outfit in the car. Voila!

I carried both! Back then, the diaper bags weren't as cute as they are now. Thank goodness for the baskets under the stoller!

i think the bag makers are really trying their best to make classy diaper bags...before they just looked ugly..but lately there have been more options.

Unfortunately, as I don't drive, I have to carry everything with me. My daughter doesn't like the stroller, so we use a Stride and Stroll tricycle, which has a steer and push handle for me. But there is no basket, so I can't store extras in there. It's horrid! But I love her

I use a diaper bag and a purse. For awhile it was just a diaper bag and I got really sick of it. Then I bought a Coach White Leather Tote that I was going to use for both but I really need the pockets and compartments that a diaper bag has so I decided I would buy 1 or 2 small Coach handbags for my wallet and cellphone. My SOn will be 1 on Sunday and we are expecting another baby in September so I really need a diaper bag to store everything!

Lately I've been seeing moms with very chic and functional diaper bags - they're made by Petunia Pickle Bottom. Petunia Pickle Bottom :: Baby Chic. They're made with beautiful fabric and some also can convert to hand carry, backpack or attach to the stroller (awesome feature!!). I wish I still had a need for such a cute diaper bag because I'd get one in a heartbeat.

Also, I've found that when I'm on a long trip or day trip somewhere my Baby Innovations Backpack Diaper Bag - which has a separate cooler and separate diaper storage - was indispensible. Plus my husband was fine carrying it. Backpack's great when you have two little ones and need to free up your hands.
