I love the baby doll dresses! (as does hubby )
but can a 38 year-old woman like me wear a casual baby doll without looking like a fool? just got a free people dress from macy's that's sooo cute but it's sheer and i guess i'll have to wear leggings? not sure if i'll keep it yet...

I just shopped like mad at Banana Republic and Bluefly for new spring/summer stuff and I love my new clothes, my new bags, but need new shoes! I am definitely buying some flats (probably brown or maybe gold with a slight wedge heel) and a pair of wedge sandals with ankle straps!

I am actually excited to go shopping for a new spring wardrobe. And I even have a good reason to do it this year. I had a baby last fall, and nothing I own fits the same, or in the right places anymore.

Hi Moonmagick! Congrats on your baby! And have lots of fun shopping! I have a little tummy myself and so I've been buying a few tunics, empire waist tops and dresses. Thank goodness this year's trends are on OUR side!

I'm not really a fan of long skirts at all or babydoll dresses (i know, they are kind of opposites, so you'd think I'd like one of them) but the trends that I like for spring are metallics (I plan on getting the gold version of the classic tory burch flats, the wider leg jean (thank god skinnies are going out I couldn't wear them without looking ridiculous), and floral/eyelet. Actually, I'm not sure if any of these things are full-blown trends, but they are all stuff I have been seeing and that I will be wearing this year.

This is great! I've always been a little self-conscious of my tummy, even though it isn't large at all. I would feel comfortable in the tunic-style tops.

And kitsch, I've been looking for the eyelet tops as well! Let me know if/where you find some.

I prefer figure hugging things to loose babydolls - I just saw a gorgeous dress, it's ankle length, black, sheer except for a small strip covering the breasts (and sheer all the way at the back).

They only had it in larger sizes at the mall I went to, but the branch in town apparently does smaller sizes - guess where I'm going on Tuesday
