Default Coach to Louis Vuitton

Hi everyone-

I am a HUGE Coach fan, but this past weekend I bought my first ever Louis Vuitton bag. It's a Speedy 25 bag. I love it! (Though I will be eating oatmeal for a few months since this was a splurge.)

Does anyone know the skinny on the boutiques--Do they keep you on file and take care of your bag if something happens to it? The lady in the LV boutique I got it from just had me fill out a customer card, didn't tell me much about the whole world of Louis (since this was my 1st one.) Thanks in advance for any info!

Woo Hoo! Congratulations, ctlawyer!!! Oooh - the Speed 25! Good for you

As I wrote in another post - I will visiting a boutique next week and I will try to be good and remember I just bought two new bags in the past two months so I must wait until Christmas... sigh!

P.S. I did hear that the inner lining gets dirty pretty fast. What color is it??? And I wonder if LV will clean it for you... hmmm.

Hi elaine130!

Thanks! I am pretty excited - love the bag Thanks for the tip on the inner lining..it is a little lighter brown than the outside color of the bag. Sort of a caramel/pecan pie color. I do wonder if they would clean it. I will have to re-set up a customer account with them when I go to the LV store in the DC area, because I got this one at the LV store in Puerto Rico. The LV rep I spoke to today said they are on a different system than the mainland US... Do you know if it is true they say not to get the speedy 25 wet? Thanks!

I will be bringing my mom over to an LV boutique next week and I will try to remember to ask about cleaning and getting the speedy wet.

But, believe it or not, I used to have an LV with a shoulder strap, not sure the model - it was a high school graduation gift from my grandparents - but either I lost it or maybe it was stolen when I lived in all those dorms and apartments throughout my 20's!

(Now that I am more mature and can FULLY APPRECIATE an LV... I'm kickin' myself! Wahhh! It was my very first designer bag - a classic couture one anyway - about the time all the Liz Claibornes were the rage. How could I have lost it? Grrrr!)

Anyway, I do remember getting mine wet (I went to college where it rained a LOT) and I don't think it was a problem. What may be affected are the handles - they turn brown after awhile from sweat or whatever. I vaguely recall my strap turned brown.

UGH - WHERE IS THAT DARN LV BAG OF MINE??!!!

Hi elaine130--

I know what you mean, my sister-in-law had a fendi and she can't remember what happened to it... maybe you packed your LV bag away somewhere, and still have it? If you do get a chance to ask about getting the speedy wet, thanks in advance. I could call LV too I suppose. I really adore this bag. I won't be buying any other bags for quite awhile after this one though

They do record your purchases and its nice to have on file, but you don't have to be registered to have bags fixed, etc. But one thing is that LV never has sales EVER so the card won't help you there

First and foremost, the speedy 25 is a GREAT purchase! I have the 30, and I know I will be using this purse for the rest of my life.

Here's the low down on getting it wet.

The body is coated canvas. If this gets wet, no big deal, just wipe it off.

The handles on the other hand--oooh boy! Watch out for those babies! The handles are unprotected leather. They start out really light, and then get progressively darker (I think this is gorgeous actually...mine has a beautiful patina!). If you get the handles wet, they WILL show water spots. These water spots are covered up as the handles darken, but this process is gradual, so you'll have to deal with the water spots for a little while.

Also, if you put lotion on your arms/hands and carry your bag, this will affect the colors of the handles. They'll get darker in the middle where the lotion has touched them, but down around the bottoms of the handles that probably haven't come in contact with the lotion, the color will be lighter.

Yes the Vachetta is very sensative. I personally use AppleGuarde spray to protect it. It's not recommended by LV or anything but I couldn't allow my babies to get water spots! It doesn't protech 100% but it does about 95%! It still Patinas and gets darker where the oils are on your hands. But I like insurance!
