Default Suede Care

I just found one of my old white handbags. I'm not sure what make it is, but it's got a lot of sentimental value since it almost qualifies as an antique (it was given to me by my aunt, and she got it from her mother....).

It's creamy white, suede, and when I put it away I'd forgotten to take my lipstick out of it. It's been bumped around a bit and now has lipstick marks across the top. I have no idea how to clean it off (the last suede I tried to clean ended up with a tide mark type stain).

Should I get it professionally cleaned, or are there some 'housewife tips' I'm missing so I could do it myself?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm a bit too chicken to try the nail file idea! But I will try the eraser one. Now I just need to find a proper eraser - all the ones I have are the silly shaped / coloured ones that don't really rub out very well, but look nice.

I found one It worked, too - there's just a tiny mark now left on the lining, but that's nicely hidden so it's not really a problem.

Thanks so much for saving it! I'd have been heartbroken if it had turned out to be ruined.
