Unhappy AAACK! View pics and please advise!

What a mess I made! See 'before' and 'after' pics posted below of my Dior Trotter Romantique Small Boston in Beige I received yesterday from the Woodbury Dior outlet. I was not immediately wowed by it when I received it. I hadn't seen it IRL and I love everything else about the bag, including the dainty, feminine touch of the velvet... but I absolutely detest the flower!

So I took another trotter romantique owner's advice (from tPF) and cut the petals down since she showed pics and hers (she had the brown large zip tote with black/blue flower) and hers came out great. But when I tried to do it - I made a total mess out of mine!

So now this purse looks terrible because the cheap tulle petals are fraying and the green and yellow stuff's sticking out. I am now thinking of taking one of the following corrective measures:

1. Removing the flower altogether and gluing or sewing the velvet bow securely onto the canvas to cover the remaining hole (since the flower's bolted on). But I may have a problem with the handle strap in front because of where it 'swivels' down when I put the bag down (see pic #3 of front handle down).

2. Removing the flower and replacing the hole with a nice but small brooch - the kind with one pin that has the squeeze-type backing. Or maybe use a Dior pendant, earring or chain? Not sure how big the hole will be, however.

3. Leave the flower on and deal with it - including questions of... Nice bag but what the %^&* is that pink thing???

What do you guys think???

How about removing the flower and replacing it with a better one from a craft store / haberdashery? That flower really looks like it was badly made - I'm sure you could find some much better ones quite cheaply that would replace it.

as i was looking at it, remove entirely the flower, plus the yellow sticking out of it... so you'll see how big the hole is, and by then you can decide what to put on it if there's a hole... i can see that it looks much better without the flower =) let alone the velvet ribbon =) and don't fret, the bag looks gorgeous =)

I agree, removing the flower and then deciding is a good idea - no matter what, the flower will be coming off, so you may as well have some idea what you're dealing with.

I think that the ribbon would look nice, if there was one on both sides to make it look symetrical.
