I wear heels or wedges most of the time. Flat shoes seem to hurt my lower back. But I do love my flip flops (no matter what the fashion police say!)

I mostly wear flats - I love my ballet pump style shoes. I know though that it's bad for your feet to wear flat shoes all the time, so I do try and alternate with heels occasionally.

I read it in a magazine this past weekend on a health Q&A page - here's what it said:
I love my comfy ballet pumps but I've heard they can damage your feet. Surely the flatter your shoes, the better?
It's true that chiropodists are reporting an increase in the number of problems in women who wear ballet pumps. They can cause trouble because a) they're difficult to keep on, so women often buy a smaller size, which cramps their toes and increases the likelihood of corns; b) they don't offer much protection if you stub your toe and c) the thin soledoesn't cope well with heavy pressure, so your feet, knees and lower back are more likely to become inflamed. But you should be fine as long as you vary your shoes to give your feet a rest from flats.

i live in nyc and although i see people wearing heels all the time, it absolutely blows my mind that they do. I used to wear heels out occasionally (and by that I mean on very special occasions) but now I mostly rock comfy but stylish flats or sandals like these but NEVER EVER flip-flops!

Since I spend most of my time in my house with my kids, I usually go barefoot! But when I'm out and about, in the summer/spring I love to wear wedges, sneakers (my faves are Skechers) and yes, thong flip flops! I've only begun wearing a pair of dark brown metallic Mia ballet-toe flats (inexpensive)- but the sides dig into my feet, rub against my toes and cause many back problems for me. I love the look, hate the pain! What brands of flats do you guys recommend?

Personally I love flip flops and clogs. Especially those croc-style shoes (yes, I know they're ugly). But, recently I've had a flare up of a heel spur and I'm stuck in sneakers. Yuk!
At least they're Anne Klein sneakers.

It depends on my mood. Some days I just want to be comfortable and I'll wear flats. Other days when I want to go the extra mile to really look good I'll wear a hot pair of stilletos.

I wear both, depends on the occasion actually. But most of the time, flats are more comfortable to wear than those heels especially when long walks are required.

I totally agree, when I need to look good I almost always wear heels, especially since I have short legs. I'll usually sacrifice comfort to style, but sometimes I'm just not in the mood. I saw this video on Better.tv about shoe shopping in Las Vegas and finding shoes that combine both. I think it is really rare, though, to find a shoe that is both comfortable and stylish.

Beauty is pain I tell ya. You do get to the point where you don't feel up to wearing hills and that is just that but majority on the time, you think about where you are going and who you might run into.

I can wear heels if I don't have to walk a lot. I like being taller and it looks good with some pants.

In the house I never have shoes on. Summertime without a doubt always flip flops. Any other time I like my semi high heal boots. Believe it or not, I have foot problems and wearing heals if I walk a lot actually makes my feet feel better!

I prefer to wear heels, but there are some times when I think flats work better.
Honestly, I am in love with kitten heels. Not too high, but not flat. They give me that perfect ladylike feel that I love.

For those of you that avoid wearing heels because of pain there are these new insoles that are incredible.
I used to avoid wearing heels as much as possible because they killed my legs and lower back, but now I can dance in them all night.
They are called Insolias for high heels, and they are not just the cushy inserts like all the others. They help you change the way you place your weight and it makes so much difference.
