How can you really tell if a purse is authentic. I was resently in San Francisco and came across a little store that sold purses. I kid you not when I tell you that these purses looked like the real thing. However, I know they were not when I asked how much one was. Do you have any tips on how to tell if a purse is authentic or not?
It varies from brand to brand. I'd suggest familiarizing yourself with the brand you're interested in by visiting their store. And remember, as you suspected, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is!
i just finished this article in harpers bazaar...they explained why the fakes are so close to the real ones..some factories in china do the real ones by the day and manufacture the fake ones by night...
I didn't read the same article at kitsch, but I know that many of the factories in China that make designer bags also make bags for smaller designers. My friend owns a small boutique where she sells some of her own designs that she has manufactured in China. She uses the same manufacturer as Kate Spade and Michael Kors and they offered to make "knock offs" for her. She said that the main difference when they manufacture for famous designers and smaller parties is the materials they use. So, I would say to look out for material quality when trying to distinguish the reals and the fakes.
Never before have a seen a great, or at least, good fake. They're very easy to tell from an authentic item.
You have to study every designer of the bag and get to know how they make their items, what they make their items out of, the design, material alignment, zipper, hardware, every little detail.
