Default Would You Buy A Designer Grocery Bag

I have noticed that more and more big designers are offering designer grocery bags. I can't get over how ridiculous it all looks, first a reusable grocery bag should not cost $1,000- the point of them is to cut out waste, that includes money.

Second, people who are carrying them around are doing anything but grocery shopping with them. I doubt they even do their own grocery shoppng with them.

True it is your business what you buy, how much you spend on it and what you do with it once you own it but I think it sends the wrong message out there.

The folks that pro reusable grocery bag makers are trying to reach are the everyday shoppers. You don't need to spend more than a couple bucks on a good one, and most people won't. Then you have these designers ones popping up all over the place and all of a sudden a good idea gets turned into an item.

I overheard two girls talking about them on the el the other day. They were coming back from the Dominicks with a couple grocery bags each when one mentioned that they should buy some reusable ones. The roommate agreed but then mentioned how much they were and that it would have to wait till she got her xmas bonus, or the one after that. She wanted to wait to make sure she could get one of those cool ones.

K, yeah sounds like she is going to use one to shop, but just when they are starting to go more mainstream designer ones are created shoving them further and further out of the mainstream shopper- making them less likely to pick up on them.

There are lots of reasonably priced reusable gro bags out there.

My fave source is reusablebags.com.

I got mine there and love them. SOOO much better than plastic bags.

Wasn't sure before you mentioned it kitsch, but I did a little digging and it looks like your right.
Not only are the bags getting more and more expensive but tons uglier too. I saw a two thousand dollar one the other day and I wouldn't walk around with that thing if you paid me.

I don't think it was her intention. She was surprised by the demand she received.

True, but everyone knows that when you have a name in the business and you make introduce something new everyone else is going to scramble around to do the same.

She might not have thought it would go so well, but I think it is fair to say that she knew the idea was going to go somewhere.

buying designer grocery bag is not a practical thing to do but if you have the resources it is ok to buy designer grocery bags. sometimes we need to be practical in life.

You know, I've been using my organic cotton Eco Bags and they work just fine for around $5 each.

Why would you want onion skins or wet stuff in a designer bag?

My grocery store, which is a huge chain here in Chicago, now has $1 cotton bags right at the checkout. They are really trying to get folks to buy them and I love it. I bought one, but I am going to look for another since it is not that big, would never be able to carry more than a couple things in it.

Also, Anya's bags only retailed for $15, but then sold for over 400 on eBay.
