Handbags: How many is enough?

This past weekend, like every woman in NYC, I headed to the theatres to see Sex and the City. (Don’t worry, no spoilers here for those who haven’t seen it but what are you waiting for??) While I was mentally cataloging every shoe and every handbag on the big screen, I came to wonder: how many of us purse-loving gals own as many bags as our favorite on-screen characters? The night before the movie opened, I was talking to my BF over dinner about my newest object of lust - a handbag, of course - and he stared at me blankly. After a period of silence, he asks, “Why do you need so many bags?” A completely sincere question because he, in his Y-chromosome world, cannot comprehend the concept of a handbag being more than just functional. I began thinking about my overstuffed bag and shoe closet and if I’m being completely honest (always a dangerous enterprise), it is possible to say that I have too much. But ‘too much’ is a relative concept, isn’t it? *wink* So I pass these questions on to you:

Answer the polls here

Default None is enough:)

The thing with bag lovers is that once you have bags and displayed them aound enough, you will always like another bag that comes to the market...so you can collect as many as you like or now thanks to internet you can sell your old ones too and buy new ones without feeling very guilty

Exactly, there can never be enough. The only way I wouldn't be interested in new styles to hit the market is if I lost interest in handbags altogether, and I don't see that happening.

Probably around 7 for me (one for every day of the week, lol!). I'd rather have quality over quantity. If I had a ton of handbags, I wouldn't be able to enjoy them all!

Default 10 Stars, and infinite extras.

Every girl needs a bunch of beauties to keep her grounded (those Birkins are HEAVY!), make her friends drool and pass along to her daughter(s) one day.

A classic Chanel is a must, as is (though I hate to admit it) a Marc Jacobs, and last but not least an Hermes, ANY Hermes (even if it's just a wallet, plus they do make bags that don't cost four thousand dollars you know). Throw in a Balenciaga, add a splash of Botega, and you've got yourself a nice collection any woman would be proud of.

The extras can include an endless array of forgettable delectables such as that pink Gap (yes, I said GAP) leather tote I carry on the first day of spring every year. Just remember that a well-made luxury item will last you through the years, when 30 cheaper bags will fall apart and leave you hanging.

Yes, I KNOW you need a gym bag, but just imagine how much classier that sack will look on one arm when there's a classic Chanel 2.55 on the other.

For now, I seem to get all antsy if I own more than 5-6 bags, but at one point I had almost 20. I've been slowly paring down my collection and actually being pretty exclusive to balenciaga, though I still have some Coach (though most of it's going to be sold off).

If I had enough money and space though, I'd probably want a dozen bals!

Default Nice collection!

You can never have too many! Unless, of course, you have one in every color and every size Do you have any fabric bags?

Default How many is enough?

Depends on the person.. I enjoy having beautiful, fun bags. The more individual, the better. I dont like walking into women that are carrying my bag so I say buy the ones that are more special and unique, sort of less traveled!

If you are looking for a unique bag, check out olivejuice4u. Most are one of kind at most 5 may be made out the same fabric. You won't run into anyone with the same bag People will ask, "Where'd you get that cute bag?". It's not the typical Coach!

I think no women can have enough, but the question is, where can we put all of them?

Should we kick the kids out to make room for them? Just kidding!Ill kick out my husband first! Another joke! I'm really kidding! Hahaha

Ok, im serious now! Believe it or not, i only have a few. Meaning, I only have 6, don't you agree thats a few, specially for someone who sells designer handbags, I say thats a few..lol

I would love to have all my handbags match my shoes but my children's college education is more important.

Am I still in the topic? lol sorry

I say you can never have enough, although, I guess if they take over your house like cats take over a cat lady's house, you probably have reached your limit. At that point you might want to sell some of them, although that's like giving up your children.
