Does anyone know the name & story of this Dior evening bag?

I bought it from UK and was told by the boutique assistant that this is a limited edition to commemorate something. Apparently there are only 1000 (?) pieces worldwide. I was too excited back then to pay close attention to what the boutique assistant was saying.

Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks!
