To spray or not to spray? Michael Kors stain repellant

Hi & Happy New Year!

I just got a brand new Michael Kors Astor Grommet North/South Drawstring Tote in Vanilla color. I was going to purchase the stain & water repellant spray. Has anyone used this before? Is it worth it? It's only 9.00 for the bottle, but I wonder how well it actually repels stains, and if so if it's ok chemically- the sales person told me not to spray it in the house since I have a baby- said it was extremely fumey. Has anyone used it before?

Spraying is always worth it---just do it outside and the fumes won't hurt the baby.
A white bag especially should be sprayed---you'll regret it if you don't. I spray everything---boots, bags, shoes, anything that might EVER get ruined. It's not worth the risk, expecially for something so expensive.
