Altough I have a rottweiler, I really like "berner sennen" dogs.
My neighbours had one once, and that dog was so happy and playfull !!! He was the best friend of my dog. I loved watching them both playing. But he got cancer and died pretty soon. My dog was very sad, and so was I. (and it wasn't even my dog!)

I'm not really sure what the english name is for berner sennen dogs.... but here is a picture to show what kind of dogs I mean: http://www.b1d.dk/bs/pictures/omberner.jpg

If my dog dies and I want another one, I will take this kind.

We have a Pug, Great Dane, and a Lab. Three different personalities, but very awesome breeds. They all get along surprisingly well together. These are probably the only breeds of dogs I plan on owning as long as I have dogs.

it's amazing how those three guys get along so well!! ive noticed that if your dogs grew up together (like they're the same age or something) it's a bigger possibility that they will live in harmony

No, not really, just very girlie and strong. I like big, sturdy dogs. Their faces are too cute.

I've seen one of those Bernese Mountain dogs mentioned before and they are just wonderful and happy dogs! A bit big for our already cramped home, though.

We have an almost 2-year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (tricolor). I was mostly a cat person all my life but fell in love with this guy when he was a 12 week-old pup. He is very happy, bred to be a lap dog, doesn't bark/yap (just at cars), great for families because he will not bite even if someone tries to steal a treat from his mouth (we have small children), he fetches and is very cute, about the size of a beagle. The only thing is that he was difficult to potty train (well, probably mostly my fault because I didn't know how to teach him since I never had a dog or even puppy before) and he needs weekly brushing.
