I have a cockatiel names Saraphina. She's so funny. In the morning she sounds like an angry hawk squawking around her cage until she wakes up. Then she starts singing. She whistles to me if I'm in the other room. We have whistle wars from across the house. Then if I'm gone and my window's open, when I come back she'll whistle at me coming up the drive and to the door.
She now needs her wings clipped. Anyone ever clip their bird's wings? How easy or hard is it?
My parents used to trim the feathers on our pet birds to make sure they didn't fly out of a window or anything. They let the vet do it the first few times so that they knew how much to cut, but once they'd been shown they were able to do it themselves. I gather it isn't too difficult.
You just have to be really careful. Badly trimmed feathers can actually leave birds with psychological issues and they can end up plucking every remaining feather out.
