Default I also have a mouse.

I never thought I'd fall for a mouse. She's black and white and as sweet as ever. At night she runs in her cage and it squeeks and now the bird is immatating the noise. When I come into the room the mouse goes to the cage door to say hi to me. She has a fat little belly and I like to rub it. It's actually my son's mouse and her name's Matrix.

Anyone else have a mouse? Did it live long?

I can't keep any caged pets at all in the flat I'm renting My friend keeps lots of things including mice, gerbils, hamsters, and her last mouse lived for around 2 years - I think that's about average for them.

Two years! That's not long. My son will be sad but I'm not going to tell him they have such a short life. She's so sweet.

Maybe it would be best to warn him that they have a short life so that it does not come a shock when she dies? I have always been open about death with my family and my parents used our pets as a way to educate us about what death means.

I have never had mice, but I used to raise rats.

So did I. I had a friend who had a snake, so I originally raised them for him, and then eventually got down to just a couple of them that were so cute I couldn't let the snake have.

Mouses are not cute and nor should they be pets.

Different strokes for different folks, Micheal...

I had a gerbil who lived for roughly 3 years. We used to make tiny pancakes for it, and it was SO CUTE when it ate them...oh man..

I just ask that you not do what I'm about to describe:

A lady walks into the vet's office with a very large rat on her shoulder. She acts like it's so normal, but we know she's doing it for attention.

She says that the rat and her cat are best friends. She is bringing the cat in for a checkup.

After she leaves, I get to clean up the rat **** in the cat's carrier. Yeah, I don't work there anymore.

Thanks. It seems that real life is often funnier than anything anyone can make up.
