Pets become such a major part of a family, so I totally understand. It's like giving away a family member even though you know that you can't keep them and that they will be cared for. That's hard. ((((Hug to You))))

I am sorry that you're feeling bad about it! The only thing I will say is it gets easier over time-we lost our cat last year who was 17 years old-he was an old man with a huge personality.

The only suggestion I have is that you have your animals spayed. That way you won't have to deal with this in the future.

britjojo is right, it's so much better for household pets to be fixed for their sake and yours. Your pets are lucky because you do care, but some people don't get their pets fixed and then just dump the litter. It makes me so sad.

Just another example of your sweetness kitsch. I'm sure they will be loved, I can't see you picking an owner that wouldn't love them.

Awww it's never easy letting go of a puppy especially when puppies are soooo cute. Plus it probably makes the mother dog a little sad so that will make you sad too.

I know what its also like to give dogs away. It really breaks my heart to let them go, even though we know that they'll be well taken care of. So what I do is, once in a while I visit them in their new home.

That is wonderful Shainee, do all the new owners allow you to do this or have some said no?

Most of the dogs I gave away, I gave them to friends so they have no choice when I come by and visit. I also visit the dogs to see if they are well taken care of and sometimes give advice also.

Do you interview the new owners? I have in the past and if they acted offended, I just explained that I wanted to make sure my pets were going somewhere to be loved.
