Default Spraying Cats

I have a male cat that is neutered. The problem is that he can still spray. He has had problems with crystals blocking his urethra, so maybe they are somehow related. When I got Tanner neutered, however, I was under the impression that he would not be able to spray.

Does anybody else have this problem?

When I had my cat, Boo neutered the vet said they took out the thing that makes them spray. I would call your vet and ask about it!

I gave my vet a call, and he said that the spraying that he is doing is behavioral, not physical. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I still need to find a way to stop it.

My cat hasn't sprayed once since he was neutered. And the behavioral thing sounds a little funny to me being I have 4 cats and he's never sprayed before

I've had many cats in the past, and once they were neutered, they no longer sprayed. I think I need to call another vet and get another opinion. It's really become an issue lately.

I called another vet today, and he mentioned that the problem could be caused by another cat in my area. Last month, Tanner did get into a fight with the neighbor's cat, so that could be the issue. The only thing is, I thought that he was physically unable to spray.

I was told by my vet and the Maryland SPCA that when a male cat is neutered they take the sprayer thing out because male cats will spray. There are cats running around near my house and my male cat has never sprayed. Even when we got him and he got a little older, he never sprayed.

That's what I was told initially as well. I think that my vet just messed up on the job (even though he shouldn't have, it's a pretty routine surgery), and just won't own up to it. I don't know though. I guess we'll just remain stumped.

Yeah, the vet did mess up. I'm sorry you have to deal with that but I would try to call someone about it.

Jewel... did you talk to another vet about your cat spraying?

I have talked to another vet, but they said pretty much the same thing. I think it's just something that I'll have to deal with. He did recommend putting an extra litter box in the house, so I think that I'll try that out and get back to you on how that works.
