Default Declawing

If you are considering having your cat or cats de-clawed, may I implore you DON'T! What you are doing when you have this done, is amputating the end of your cats "fingers" so to speak. It is the same as if you ad the first joint of your fingers amputated. If your cat is damaging furniture, or carpeting, there are claw covers you can get that will help to prevent the damage without resorting to de-clawing.

I am very opposed to declawing because it really isn't necessary and it takes away a cat's ability to defend itself in a bad situation.

Also, clipping nails is very simply and if you get the cat used to it by clipping on a frequent basis, they really won't mind.

I don't believe in declawing cats either.

I am against declawing also, but I have used the covers for the cats nails and they do come off very easily if the cat scratches alot.

Default declawing nooooooo

I hate declawing and our vet refuses to do it. The zoos wanted big cats declawed too! how stupid.
Now there is this funky thing that you can put on the claw! its like alittle itty bitty kitty claw cap made from a material thats biofriendly. I never new until i saw a sample in the vets office.
First they clip and manicure the nail. Then they apply a bioglue just on the very tip of the nail and slide these caps on.
My its tips for cats!
they also are available for canines in different colors....
anyway, they will fall off in four weeks as the oils from the pet seep under the tip so they wont hurt and they protect not only the furniture but you. Now the thing about these according to the comoany is will still allow the cat to climb and walk naturally!
now how cool is that!
